Supporting youth is a major focus of our Rotary club. The Marshwood High School Ski Team provided our exchange student, Carlos Carbonell Monte from the south of Spain, the chance to experience a Maine winter as he became a member of that ski team and learned so much about 1) skiing competitively, 2) managing the winter cold, and 3) juggling academics with sports. With his host family brothers, Ethan and Liam Waddell and the support of host parents, Eric and Jennifer Waddell, Carlos had a fantastic experience. We were delighted to be a team sponsor and are thankful for its dedicated and caring coaches, especially coach Eric Oberg who took Carlos under his wing and made sure he was well equipped and trained for the season. The MHS team won this year's Sportsmanship Award (and skier Hazel Martin was state champion)!
